The Chevy Malibu is one of the longest-running models currently available. Named for the exclusive neighborhood along the Pacific Coast, the Malibu gives drivers a sporty midsize sedan that is both practical and affordable. Except for a break in the 1980s, Chevy has given drivers the opportunity to enjoy a Malibu since 1964. The 2024 Chevy Malibu is part of the ninth generation of this model, which began in the 2016 model year. For 2024, Chevy is offering the Malibu with a new Lakeshore Blue Metallic exterior color option, as well as a standard tire inflation kit that will come in handy should the air pressure drop in your Malibu's tires.

Transmission
Chevy has paired this 1.5L Turbo I-4 gas engine with a continuously variable transmission (CVT). Rather than having traditional fixed gear speeds, a CVT is calibrated to perform at the most fuel-efficient and consistent engine speed and gear ratio for each driving condition. This results in better overall fuel economy and a more consistent ride.
Handling
The Malibu has always been known for its sporty ride, and the 2024 model is no exception. You should be able to get from zero to sixty in a solid 7.8 seconds, which will make it easy to merge onto a highway in your Malibu, even if you are driving in rush hour traffic. If the other driver suddenly stops, the Forward Collision Alert will sound, letting you know that you need to take evasive action to avoid an accident; at the same time, this will engage the Automatic Emergency Braking system, which will either bring your Malibu to a safe stop or reduce the impact if a collision is unavoidable. The Malibu even has a Front Pedestrian Braking, which works in a similar fashion at slower speeds in order for you to avoid colliding with a pedestrian who steps in front of your Malibu.
One of the most common causes of accidents is drifting into an adjacent or oncoming lane; this can happen from even a momentary lapse of focus. Fortunately, the Malibu comes with Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning. If you start to drift out of your lane, an alert will sound, while the system uses slight steering adjustments to get you safely back in the lane.
Driving at night can be a hassle as you move from areas of decent light to poor lighting. The 2024 Malibu has IntelliBeam, which automatically turns your high beams on when you enter areas of poor lighting and then will turn them off when the lighting improves or if the system detects another motorist. This will help you to avoid distracting the other driver.
The 2024 Malibu also has a standard HD Rear Vision Camera that allows you to see what is behind you as you pull out of a parking spot.
