2023 Chevy Equinox

When it comes to crossover and SUV models, you have more options available to you these days than ever before, including terrific vehicles in a wide range of sizes. If you are interested in a small crossover that can easily fit into just about any lifestyle while still giving you excellent performance and functionality, then you should take a good look at the 2023 Chevy Equinox. The Equinox is better than it has ever been, with a retuned engine that delivers superior performance while still giving you excellent fuel efficiency. This is also one of the most enjoyable driving experiences on the road, with advanced safety features to help protect you and your loved ones.

Although a powerful engine is probably not your top priority with a small crossover model, you still deserve something that is fun to drive. The 2023 Equinox is powered by a 1.5L Turbo I-4 engine that has been boosted to deliver an improved 175 hp, which makes for a very enjoyable driving experience. This comes paired with a six-speed automatic, for a smooth and responsive ride; while Front-Wheel Drive (FWD) is standard, All-Wheel Drive (AWD) is available for better control in rough weather. Despite this impressive power, the Equinox still gets an estimated 26 MPG in the city and 31 MPG on the highway with a FWD configuration.

Inside the 2023 Chevy Equinox, you will find a comfortable and well-appointed interior that gives you plenty of room for passengers and cargo alike. This includes two rows of seating, plus nearly 64 cu.ft. of total cargo space behind the front seats, providing you with excellent functionality for a wide range of uses. Standard interior features include support for Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, premium cloth seating, and keyless open with keyless start functionality. You also get the Chevy Safety Assist package standard, which includes Automatic Emergency Braking, a Forward Collision Alert, and much more on every Equinox.

Performance and Efficiency

No matter what kind of vehicle you are interested in, you deserve something that is fun and rewarding to drive. It is not only sports cars and work trucks that need to have good engines in them. While the power packed into the 2023 Chevy Equinox might not come close to what you will find in something like the Corvette, it still gives you a great driving experience. In fact, for the 2023 model, Chevy's engineers have retuned the engine to deliver more power than last year, giving you an even better time on the road.

Under the Hood of the Equinox

The Equinox is powered by a 1.5L Turbo I-4 engine that delivers 175 hp and 203 lb-ft of torque, which is plenty of power for a small and sporty crossover like this. You get a six-speed automatic transmission paired with the engine, giving you a smooth and responsive drive that is perfect for running errands, getting around town, or heading out on a long road trip. Although FWD is standard on the Equinox, you can choose AWD if you prefer to have a bit more control in rough weather and road conditions. Having the freedom to get the kind of performance you want is something we find time and again on Chevy's vehicles.

The Equinox Prooves Efficient

Despite this solid power and excellent overall performance, the Equinox is also an incredibly efficient model for everything you want to do. With its standard FWD configuration, the Equinox gets an EPA-estimated 26 MPG in the city, 31 MPG on the highway, and 28 MPG combined. If you go with an AWD model, then you lose a bit of efficiency, and those numbers become an EPA-estimated 24 MPG in the city, 30 MPG on the highway, and 26 MPG combined. No matter what you choose, you will get a great driving experience that will help you keep your gas costs down.

Interior Space

Although this is a small crossover SUV, the 2023 Chevy Equinox still has a surprising amount of room inside for you to enjoy, plus great standard and available features. This is a two-row model with seating inside for up to five people, plus you get plenty of room for your passengers to stretch out and remain comfortable. Even with every seat full in your Equinox, you still get 29.9 cu.ft. of cargo space in the rear area behind the back seats; with fewer people inside, you get up to 63.9 cu.ft. of total cargo volume behind the front seats. This gives you a lot of room to enjoy and to load up with everything you need before you hit the road.

Comfort and Convenience for Everyone

The features you find inside the Chevy Equinox will depend on the trim you choose, but even the starting options are fantastic. Looking at the standard LS trim, you get a 7-inch Infotainment display with support for Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a six-speaker sound system, and premium cloth seating. The LS also has front and rear carpeted floor mats, steering-wheel-mounted controls, a 3.5-inch Driver Information Center display, and Keyless Open with Keyless Start. You get numerous USB ports and single-zone climate control inside the standard Equinox, along with functionality like cruise control and a manual liftgate.

Looking at the highest Premier trim, you will find a number of improvements throughout, such as an 8-inch Infotainment display, perforated leather-appointed seating, and heated front seats. You get an eight-way power-adjustable driver's seat in the Premier, along with a wrapped and heated steering wheel, 4.2-inch Driver Information Screen, and Remote Start functionality. The Premier also comes with a wireless charging pad, dual-zone automatic climate control, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror. Plus, you get a hands-free gesture liftgate in the rear that makes it incredibly easy to load and unload items into or out of the back of the Equinox.

Safety Features

Innovative Safety Technology

When looking at any vehicle, nothing is more important than how well it can help keep you and others safe on the road. It seems like not that long ago that we had little more than seatbelts and (maybe) some airbags to protect us when we were behind the wheel. These days, technology has improved safety in numerous ways, and modern vehicles have a huge number of systems designed to help protect us. Too often, however, these sorts of features are locked behind high trims and additional costs; the 2023 Equinox comes with the Chevy Safety Assist package of advanced features standard on every model.

Your Available Safety and Driver Assist Features

Chevy Safety Assist on the Equinox includes numerous features, such as a Forward Collision Alert designed to warn you when a potential crash is detected, along with Automatic Emergency Braking to help you avoid a collision. This comes with Front Pedestrian Braking, too, to help you avoid a collision with pedestrians and not just other vehicles; plus, you get a Following Distance Indicator to warn you when you are too close to the car in front of you. You also get IntelliBeam automatic high-beam headlights, which can activate your high-beams in low-light conditions and turn them off automatically when oncoming traffic is detected to avoid blinding other drivers.

In addition to these features, you also get a Lane Keep Assist system with a Lane Departure Warning on every Equinox model. This helps keep track of clearly-marked lanes on the road, and it warns you when you seem to be drifting from your lane inadvertently; it can even help you stay in your lane. A number of additional options are available on the Equinox to take your safety even further, such as a Lane Change Alert with Side Blind Zone Alert to warn you when you indicate that you want to change lanes and another vehicle is there, plus Front and Rear Park assist to help you stay safe when navigating at low speeds or while parking. Best of all, the standard Teen Driver system makes the Equinox the perfect option if you have a young driver and you want to ensure they learn safe habits from the very start.
